They behave just like turkeys and pheasants when they flee. If there is dense vegetation, they run. Otherwise they fly.BCKidd wrote:Don't these things go airborne? Grouse in my neighborhood do. These ones tho', don't seem to take to the skies.

Maybe the Canadian grouse fly more because they can't find good boots to keep their little feet warm if they're running around in all the snow, eh?HooCairs wrote:They behave just like turkeys and pheasants when they flee. Working 2 jobs doesn't leave enough time for hunting!

I might be wrong here, but it seems like you could just get this close to them as opposed to the turkeys, or rather let them get this close to you. Not that i have a problem with it, but i do find it funny. Comp?

Wood Grouse (Western Capercaillie) are very aggressive birds, they definitely do behave more analogous to turkeys or sage grouse.BCKidd wrote:Don't these things go airborne? Grouse in my neighborhood do. These ones tho', don't seem to take to the skies.

Anyone been using the pointer to locate them? In my hunt last night it seemed like the pointer may have been spooking them.

Honestly I am disappointed that is, again, a bird. But, taking into consideration all the work and all good deeds made by this new team I decided to applaud , once again, their accomplishment. How about a little hard work for a new map , eh ?
