Re: Rifles | .308 Anschütz 1780 D FL Bolt Action Rifle
I bought this rifle very early on because I love the .308 in general IRL, and I was impressed with it, but that is long before I owned much else. I notice small differences more and more over time w/experience just like everyone will.
Today my opinion has faded to little confidence on anything tough at distance. Every weapon has it's own effective limits and as long as it's used in that application it's great! I can't fault something for ME wanting more out of it that it's capable of.

Rated "Good"
The first rifle I ever bought and it's capable of killing deer easily at even a bit longer distances, a bit weak for moose, but close up it's good for moose too

I wanted so badly to like this rifle. Very under powered in game.

Weaksauce in its purest form. When moose hunting I usually take my .223 before even considering taking this weapon.

I rated good.
I don't understand all the moaning about this weapon. "I'll take .223 over this when hunting moose" Why? Really, why?
I agree that this rifle might be a little underpowered comparing to the real life, but I've not once encountered the long tracking session which is caused by the .308 - it's caused by my own bad shooting.
In this game people have got used to "all shots kill everything" -idea too much. IRL you just can't shoot other areas than vital area, and there .308 is as good as other big game rifles. Aiming properly is the key to go, and most people seems to have forgotten it.

Very poor. Collecting dust after 250 kills. Lack of power. Will never be as good as 30-06, .300, 8X57 or 9.3X62.

I didn't hunt with it much. I do lack a bit of knowledge about it. I know its not one of the most powerful guns in the game.

Rated Good, as long as you stick to what it's great at (mid-sized game). As stated, lacks the stopping power for the big beasties.

One of the first guns bought. Works against most game, but shot placement is vital, especially against bigger beasts. I've downed deer, hogs, and elks with this gun.
Rated good. Not the strongest gun, but it'll do the job in most cases.
