In the US these are extremely popular with bow hunters especially.
Differences between standard tree stand:
Lighter to carry
Range you alert animals when deploying is smaller
Doesn't go as high up in the tree as normal stands
Can only stand, no crouching
This would be the more mobile version you would carry with you instead of setting up in a semi-permanent spot like the normal stand. For stalking deer at least, it would add a different approach than crawling on the ground.

Only one plus and the rest are negatives. I have one and two-person stands. If I need lighter, I take the one-person stand. In addition, we also have tripod stands and ground blinds. I don't see this happening.
