7mm Scout vs Coyote

Post by _dfad_ »

So what do we have... Both of these:
  • .223 (1300-1800 J of muzzle energy)
  • 9.3x74 (4500-4600 J of muzzle energy)
are pretty Ok to shot a coyote or a roe deer. So the range of energies for these animals is quite wide.

Meanwhile we have two 7mm-08 types of ammo. This caliber provides 3100-3600 J of muzzle energy. And while both of these cartridges are ethical for a roe deer, but only one is allowed for a coyote.
So... Why?
Is it just the right time to change that?

If a round peg won't fit into the square hole, you're not pushing hard enough. So rather than drilling a larger hole out of the square one, push your ethics weapon logic harder to accept the incongruity.

I use the 7mm Scout HV rounds for Fox (Artic and Red), bobcat any lynx, and have not had any of them run off and heal if you happen to get a body shot. This weapon is great for these tough little creatures.
